Every summer, the Bay of Cannes becomes an open-air theatre during the Pyrotechnic Art Festival, one of the most prestigious in the world. Created in 1967, this free event brings together over six evenings the best international firework designers, who compete in creativity to win the Vestale d’Or. The pyro-musical shows, fired from barges at sea and synchronised to cinematic soundtracks, draw more than 100,000 spectators per evening along La Croisette. In 2026 the festival runs from 4 July to 24 August with teams from Serbia, Poland, China and other countries.
